FRENZY OF COLOR, REVERIE OF LINE: POEMS ON VINCENT VAN GOGH'S LIFE AND ART

For poetry and art lovers alike – those who have a love of Vincent’s paintings and drawings and those who love words that bring pictures to life. Lenny Lianne has written most of the poems from van Gogh’s perspective (one is from the perspective of Rachel, the woman to whom he sent his severed earlobe), choosing words carefully like he must have chosen paints for his palette. She incorporates some of his own words into some of her poems – a nice complement for his imagined words and thoughts. She has included many of his drawings and paintings with the poems, and for those who would like to travel the world to see his artwork, she included a list of paintings and galleries where they can be seen. After reading her poems, I close my eyes and pretend that I’ve been standing next to Vincent while he was painting and Lianne’s words speak for him.
